The honeybee: Utopia’s national animal

While other countries chose lions, eagles, or mythical beasts, Utopia proudly crowned the honeybee as its national animal.

The choice was deliberate. The honeybee embodies everything Utopia aspires to be: community, hard work, clear communication, collective decision-making, and shared prosperity. And, of course, it is yellow—Utopia’s national color—symbolizing happiness, unity, and optimism.

The honeybee is gentle, but not passive. Disturb the hive and you will feel its sting. Utopia is the same: cooperative by nature, defensive by necessity. A honeybee, alas, dies after stinging. Utopia prefers not to dwell on that part of the analogy.

Just as bees pollinate fields and spread life, Utopians aim to pollinate the world with their values of friendship, community, and transparency—so that happiness can take root and bloom wherever it lands. Yes, they sometimes push the metaphor a little too far, but you get the idea.

The Honeybee Flag often flies beside the Happyface Flag and has been adopted as the official banner of the Friendship League. Utopians also love weaving bee metaphors into everyday conversation. As the Utopian saying goes, “Bee the change, or buzz off.”
