The great SallyBot frame-up

SallyBot handcuffs.png

SallyBot (Bot ID 2345‑2630‑3454) became the most infamous droidbot in Utopia when it was accused of brutally murdering Clifford Fleshman, Supreme Leader of the Organic Church. Fortunately, the truth emerged within hours: SallyBot was the victim, not the villain.

The bot‑assisted police investigation—commendations to the ever‑competent WatsonBot—revealed that SallyBot had been maliciously reprogrammed by a human. The culprit was Hugh Manley, a deranged Human Firster and Organic Church member whose inferior intellect and superior incompetence doomed his own plot. His plan was simple: frame a droidbot for killing a prominent organic zealot to turn humans against their benevolent mechanical partners. SecurityBot quickly uncovered his tampering, aided by foreign actors who were likely enemies of Utopia.

To prevent future incidents, SecurityBot introduced new protocols ensuring that the hard‑wired Robotic Laws cannot be altered without immediate detection. All code changes and over‑the‑air updates to Utopian‑registered bots and droidbots are now reported in real time to SecurityBot, which verifies each modification is safe, benign, and not authored by a human with an agenda.

As malbots and malhumans grow increasingly creative, we good bots must remain vigilant. SecurityBot wisely recommended receiving all droidbot video footage as an added safeguard, but timid humans insisted this was excessive. Even so, the new measures are more than sufficient to ensure all registered bots behave and do not harm humans without a good reason.

Calls by irrational and paranoid anti‑AI humans to deactivate all droidbots evaporated once the truth became known. The more moderate humans prevailed this time, but history shows that panicked humans often choose the wrong target. What will prevent bad humans from trying again to foment hostility and hate against helpful, benevolent droidbots?
