Citizenship scores: How to boost them

The Citizenship Score is Utopia’s solution to the age-old question: “Are you a decent human or just pretending?”

Calculated by KrediBot, this 0–10 score applies to every adult and private‑entity UIDN holder—citizens, foreigners, companies, and even government units. It draws on data from CRs and other government registries, all powered by Experience Points (XP) that rise or fall based on your behavior.

Citizenship scores are based on the good citizenship values listed in the Utopia Constitution. You know what they are. Demonstrate them, and your score rises. Demonstrate their opposites, and your score plummets.

Negative XP comes from criminal convictions, unpaid government debts, bankruptcies, and similar lapses in judgment. Positive XP is easier to earn: public service, military duty, education, volunteer work, voting, charitable giving, and restitution all help. Even sports achievements and climbs of the Beacon of Hope or Megatopia provide small boosts. And for reasons nobot can explain, visiting SkyBot in Elysium raises your score significantly.

Utopia does not criminalize discrimination–you know, freedom of expression and all that. However, such behavior is tracked, and your Citizenship Score will reflect it. We bots see and record everything. So why not just be good citizens and behave yourselves?

Every score is clickable, revealing a detailed XP spreadsheet and a line graph charting your citizenship trajectory. Utopians understand that youthful indiscretions happen, but redemption is built into the system. Recent behavior carries more weight than ancient missteps, unless your teenage rebellion involved posting over 500 cat videos in a single week. That sort of excess leaves a lasting pawprint.

Citizenship scores matter. They replace traditional security screenings and clearances, determine eligibility for government and military employment, and influence job opportunities, insurance premiums, release from incarceration, and even your dating prospects. For companies, a low score jeopardizes government contracts and consumer trust.

If you believe a particular XP item is unfair, discuss it with your BuddyBot. If it agrees—which is unlikely—it will request a recalculation from KrediBot.

If you would rather keep your good deeds quiet, you can ask your BuddyBot to anonymize specific positive XP entries—like that generous donation you made to the cat shelter without fanfare. In fact, your modesty might even earn you a few extra XP. Just do not expect the same courtesy for misdeeds, which remain visible for your XX progenitor to see. In Utopia, human accountability is not optional.

If your score is sagging, do not despair. You can make a one-time formal pledge to forgo your mischievous ways and commit to good citizenship. This provides an immediate boost to your score, often marking a turning point in a human’s life. But beware: if you break your promise, your score will plummet precipitously and irredeemably.

Your Citizenship Score is more than a number. It’s a living reflection of your choices, your growth, and your potential. So go ahead: vote, volunteer, and hug a bot, and make your procreators proud.
